This statement means that when you hang out with people who are bad influence then you will eventually be like them, but when you hang out with people who are successful then you will become successful as well. For example, if you hang out with people who get drunk, smoke, or ditch school then you will eventually be doing the same. Don't hang out with people that will influence you the wrong way.
