Duties and
Responsibilities:
They organize the eyeglasses and lenses
written through prescription by an ophthalmologist so that the patient feels
comfortable wearing them. Optical technicians work in optical laboratories, for
ophthalmologists or optometrists, and for retail stores that have optical
departments.
Average
Salary: $15,000- $20,000
Educational
Requirements:
To start training you need a high school
diploma or a GED. Training programs are in vocational schools and community colleges;
they can last from six months to a year. Optical departments in some retail
stores do in-job training.
